BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT A SUCCESS

Thank you to everyone who helped in making last night's Back to School Barbecue a success! Robert Perdue cooked another awesome meal. Debbie, our cafeteria manager, once again allowed us to use (and mess up) her kitchen! We had so many great volunteers who helped to serve food as well as clean up after the parents left for the grade level meetings.

The PTSA is here to support all of our students in their education at Kapaa High School. Please become a PTSA member and an Escrip supporter! In signing up your Safeway Card with Escrip you are helping to financially support many Kapaa High School activities every time you shop. It's easy and it's free!

Teacher's and staff, please remember that we are willing to support many different requests for funding. Stop by the office and pick up a request form from the PTSA box. Along with submitting your request have your students each get one new Escrip member! Attach those to your request and submit!

Lastly, please come join us for our monthly meetings in the SAC room. We will be meeting at 5:00 on the third Monday of each month. If there is a change in the schedule we will note it here on the blog. Thanks again to everyone who joined us last night!

Sincerely,
Heather Devin

President's Message 05 March 2013

Aloha,

On May 21st 2012 we were scheduled to have our monthly PTSA meeting to wind up the school year and plan for next year, that meeting never happened because on that day at 2:30 in the morning my 23 year old son Bruce was in a fatal car crash.  A few weeks later my board asked me if I still wanted to serve my upcoming term as PTSA president which I did because in my mind I wanted for my life to be as... normal as possible.

At the end of this school year we will need to find a new treasurer, vice president and president. What does the job entail and how much of a time commitment is it?

We meet once a month usually for an hour on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 pm in the SAC Four times a year we do an ice cream give away to students who are on the honor roll and achieve perfect attendance.room and thoughout the year we sponsor the Back-to-School BBQ which is our biggest annual event.
As an organization we provide help to students, teachers, administration, coaches and parents by helping with funding for our sports teams that travel to other islands along with ROTC when they travel. We also support our students who are involved in science projects and teachers often approach us to help with projects and extra-curricular activities that the DOE doesn't cover.

We do no fundraising because all our funding comes from-scrip which mostly comes from when supporters shop at Safeway. We are blessed to be able to work with a very committed group of administrators and teachers and as a alumni I am proud to say that good things are happening here at Kapaa high school.

The end of the school year is approaching rapidly and part of my duty is to try and find new board members to help out next school year. I can tell you that one of the best ways to help insure your your children’s success is to take an active role in your child’s school. So please step up and insure that the PTSA can continue to do good things for our kids, it’s a small time commitment with great rewards.

If you would be willing to help out next year please call me at 6FIVE2-758ZERO or email me at robertperdue@hotmail.com.
