Reflections Winners!!

Kapa'a High School students showed their artistic side and many placed at the state level in their division in tthe 2014-2015 REFLECTIONS Program!  Students' artwork, music, film, dance and literature were all part of the National PTSA contest which encourages schools to support the arts and students to explore their artistic talents by creating works art for fun and recognition.  This year's theme was "The world would be a better place if..."

Ryemin Liddle received 1st place honors for his essay "A New World." As a first place winner his piece will move onto the National PTA Reflections competition to be announced in May.

In the Visual Arts High School Division Kapa'a High School had two winners, Jack Zhusone Zhou in 2nd place for his graphite pencil portrait and in 3rd place Sierra Hernandez for her painting "Equal Love". 

In the Film Production category, Emily Faretta's film about the world needing more passion, creativity and individuality placed second.

Aretha Matsushima's original song about friendship, which she wrote the music, lyrics and performed, received an honorable mention in the Music Composition category.

All winners were invited to attend the Reflections Award Banquet on Oahu, April 18th at the Ala Moana Hotel.  The Hawaii State PTSA will be honoring all winners at the event.

We are very proud of our Kapa'a High Students and their artistic contributions!
